  • At the company's annual Connect conference on October 28th, the tech giant's ambition to be known for more than social media and all the ills that entail has lead them to rebrand. The rebrand positions Facebook as one of many products under a parent company overseeing groups like Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, and more

Zoom is testing showing ads to free users

  • Ads will appear on the browser page shown to users at the end of a call.
  • Users on the service's Basic tier will only see ads if they join a meeting hosted by another Basic tier user.
  • Until now, arguably the biggest restriction on Zoom's free tier is its 40-minute limit on the length of group calls. But Zoom's chief marketing officer Janine Pelosi writes that it needs to start showing ads to help it "support investment and continue providing free Basic users with access to our robust platform."
