Businesses, both big and small, have a responsibility to their employees just as they do to their customers. From ensuring they are appropriately paid for their services to providing the necessary training and equipment to perform those services.

Of course, managing a business's workforce is not always an easy feat. Thankfully, Odoo offers a solution through the Employees app. Unlike our usual Odoo app spotlights, this time we'll be covering a full suite of apps that closely integrate with it, including Appraisals, Expenses, Timesheets, Time Off, and Referrals.

Employees: Your Workforce Hub

The Employees app is Odoo's dedicated tool for tracking employees from their onboarding process when first hired all the way to offboarding them when they move on. While they are on staff, the app helps track their certifications, equipment, and their general information. It also makes organizing staff easier by correlating employee records with the department they are assigned to.

Appraisals: Collaborative Performance Reviews

When you want to review how an employee is doing, the Appraisals app can help. Appraisals in Odoo are built to encourage collaboration between employees and managers:

  • Employees fill out a self-assessment
  • Managers provide feedback on the employee
  • And both meet for a full review

Expenses: Simplified Reimbursement

Sometimes employees incur expenses for the sake of the business, and the Expenses app can help manage them. Employees log their expenses in the app, which can then be reviewed and, ideally, approved for reimbursement quickly.

Timesheets: Track Work Across Your Organization

Keeping track of what tasks an employee performs throughout a workday is a vital part of managing a business, and the Timesheets app is Odoo's solution. It integrates with other Odoo apps, such as ProjectΒ and Helpdesk, so employees can directly log time against tickets and tasks they worked on. You can also set timesheet entries (or entire projects) to log against sales orders!

Time Off: PTO Made Simple

The Time Off app integrates with Timesheets so that approved time off is automatically logged on employees' timesheets. It helps employees see their available PTO at a glance, submit PTO requests, and check whether their requests have been approved or rejected (with whatever reasons given.) This makes managers jobs a lot easier when approving or rejecting their employees' requests, which, of course, can be done directly through the app.

Referrals: Organize Your Hiring Pipeline

The Referrals app is your tool for organizing and keeping track of all things related to the referrals process, including:

  • Who was referred
  • Who referred them
  • Whether they made it to the end of the referral process
  • How many people an employee has referred
